Concerts at Woodhouse Copse

Dear Woodhouse Visitors

Welcome to Woodhouse in 2011, we will offer you a variety of events, always carefully chosen to the highest artistic standards. We will feature top young artists, true to the ethos and mission of Woodhouse in recitals, chamber music, music theatre and opera, in entrancing surroundings.

Sir Tom Allen who has given masterclasses here over the years and is always a great help in preparation for the operas called Woodhouse "Unique" and critic Michael White blogged about it in the Daily Telegraph recently; his advice was "Google it and be surprised; it's special".

We will feature two operas in 2011: La Boheme in the autumn, in the round in doors. The long summer days filled with beautiful melodies. A fully staged Don Giovanni (Viennese version) with orchestra in September on our amphitheatre stage, a fitting setting for the supernatural character of this opera.

We were hugely encouraged after last year's rapturous reception of Cosi fan Tutte and we hope to go further in 2011. A wonderful and very charismatic cast of singers and musicians has already been selected, so a hair-raising treat awaits you!

Starting our chambermusic events on 20th february 2011 we will present Facade; a wonderful flautist, chamber trio, and the exhilarating Counterpoise ensemble for cabaret with Eleanor Bron as Narrator. Part of the concert will feature a truly poetic and romantic piece by David Matthews which was commissioned by Counterpoise and reflects on Titian's Painting of Actaeon which was recently saved for the nation.

We also have some younger artists plus the return of artists who started young at Woodhouse; sure to be an exciting and rewarding combination.

Come to as many events you can, pass on the word and, most importantly, have a memorable and enjoyable time here at Woodhouse. Late May and early June is a delicious time to visit the gardens.

We are a non-profitmaking organisation without any external funding and we appreciate your part in keeping Woodhouse alive.

Thank you
