Planned events

Julian Jacobson (Piano) and Men Jiu Jon (Piano)

A maestro-student series scored for two pianos works by Rachmaninov: Symphonic Dances and Suites.

Widely regarded as one Britain’s most creative and distinctive pianists, Julian Jacobson performs internationally as recitalist, concerto soloist and chamber musician. His huge repertoire ranges from the 32 sonatas of Beethoven, which he has performed eight times as a cycle (the last two in a single day) to some of the most challenging scores of the twentieth century and works written for him by composers such as Michael Nyman, Benedict Mason and Keith Tippett. He was a founder member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Capricorn and the Trio of London, and has performed with the London Sinfonietta, the Chilingirian and Brodsky Quartets and in duo with many distinguished soloists including Ivry Gitlis, Zara Nelsova, Nigel Kennedy and Christian Lindberg. His many recordings for Meridian, Chandos, Hyperion, Decca Argo, Cala, Continuum and other labels have been widely praised. Julian was formerly Head of Keyboard Studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and is currently professor of piano and chamber music at the Royal College of Music in London.
